History of Shiatsu
Shiatsu is an ancient form
of chinese medicine. It was carried throughtout the orient and has taken many different forms over the years.
One version in Japan became a pleasurable form of massage with holistic practices. This is called bareoot or macrobiotic
Shiatsu and was brought to the United States by Shizuko Yamamoto. Many macrobiotic practitioners give advice on eating
healthy and returning the body to a balanced, natural state of being.
Barefoot Shiatsu
Barefoot Shiatsu will help balance the body by applying direct or steady pressure on a variety of Tsubos (accupressure points) and Meridians
along the body to balance energy flow. The tools are hands, fingers, elbows and feet. This is an excellent choice
for deep pressure work.
